Audiometry fundamentals

The anatomy of hearing. How noise causes NIHL. Understanding the audiogram axes, frequencies tested, and thresholds. Walk-through of DOSH’s Occupational Safety and Health (Noise Exposure) Regulations 2019.

Testing technique & equipment

Patient preparation, ear inspection, calibration checks. Air conduction vs bone conduction. Masking when to use it. Live demonstration using a model audiometer.

Participants work through 6 real de-identified audiograms covering normal hearing, conductive loss, NIHL, and mixed loss. Trainer reviews each with the group.

How to write a complete, audit-ready DOSH audiometry report. Common errors. When to flag STS and what action is required. Group and individual report templates reviewed.
